A Deadly Challenge

The story I focused on was the cinnamon challenge. The challenge has become popular over a period of time and according to some health experts, the challenge itself is hazardous to your health and can result in death.

The challenge is simple, take a spoonful of cinnamon and hold it in your mouth. What results from this seems quite humorous, but the after-effects are a growing concern. If the cinnamon travels into the lungs, it can cause breathing problems and the person can choke and possibly die.

The challenge has spread across the country like wildfire and people need to be aware of the dangers of the challenge. People throughout Facebook and Twitter are taking requests from people to possibly make videos of them doing the cinnamon challenge.

Some videos have generated views that are pushing close to 30 million views. Some of the people are doing the challenge on YouTube in order to maximize their hit ratio. A reason people would want to gain the max amount of hits is because there is money to be gained from it.

The health risks outweigh the income gained, so it is time to educate the youth before any more harm is done. The sooner the challenge is gone, the better off we will all be.

This challenge has also brought on other challenges as well, so in a sense, it acts like a virus and awareness is the cure.
